Wayne Rooney heads back to Old Trafford
All eyes are now at Old Trafford. Well, how do you welcome back an old legend? If i was to compare it with the Biblical prodigal son, then i would be wrong because in this case it is a legend coming back home free with no fear of rejection!
The famous number 10 T-shirt, the captain arm band, the unforgettable Mancity bicycle kick goal… Yes it is Rooney. Our legend of all times. Guess what? He is coming back home!
To break the excitement, here is the news. Wayne Rooney is coming back to Old Trafford; this time round not as a player but as a coach. It feels good to be home right? Especially at a higher rank than before!
It is the theatre of dreams indeed. Rooney will be back to Old Trafford this September to manage the England team at the Soccer Aid for the UNICEF UK.
The charity match will involve the England side and the Soccer Aid World XI- which involves soccer old legends and some players. This year’s game will see the debut of ex-united captain Patrice Evra. The game was initially scheduled for Sunday 6th June 2020 but due to corona virus, the game had to be cancelled to a further date which is now this September(date and time yet to be confirmed).
Since 2006,the the soccer aid has raised 38m pounds set to help children all over the globe. Sending of donations is open upto 6th October.
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic; for the first time, this years game will be played indoors with no spectators. Viewers will get to enjoy the match from the comfort of their sofas as the game will be broadcast live on ITV and STV. Those who had paid for the tournament will get their money refunded in full. The refunding process started last Monday and may continue for a week.
